According to British research firm CLARKSON latest figures show that
the first half of this year, China's shipbuilding industry received
orders for new capacity of 1.9 million dwt, has surpassed South
Korea's 1.3 million dwt, to become the first in the world.
According to the statistics, the cumulative turnover of the first half of
the world's 80 new ships, including 3.39 million dwt, representing a
95 percent reduction in the same period last year.
1 ~ 5 months, China received only 30 million deadweight tons of
orders the same period, new orders for South Korea 1.1 million dwt,
but in June, China's new orders to reach 1.6 million tons in order
to go beyond Korea.
Despite the sharp drop in orders for new vessels, but the world's largest
container carrier Maersk Group, yesterday predicted that the global
container traffic idle stop round early next year will increase by
66%. Idle capacity and the continuous increase was mainly due
to the continued downturn of the global trade and have a new round
of delivery.
Earlier, Maersk Sealand, the world's container traffic forecast
downturn will last until 2010.
China Shipping Industry Industry Association also recently released the
"first half of 2009 economic operation in the shipbuilding
industry," pointed out that the entire shipbuilding industry chain
from the point of view of operation, in the absence of effective
demand and the decline in shipbuilding double the cost factors, the
shipbuilding market the short term is unlikely the situation out of
the doldrums, the second half of the price of new ships will
continue to show a downward trend.
